T-72 Mahmia (Adra) 1st Gen

T-72 Mahmia (unoficially "T-72 Adra") is a Syrian upgrade of the T-72M1 featuring slat and spaced armour as extra protection against HEAT, also known as Shielded T-72 or T-72 Mahmia.

Main features & differences:

• Protection:
  • spaced armor around the turret and at the front of the hull
    • spaced armour and chassis covered in a layer of slat armor
  • turret ring protected by steel chains which hang from the turret and are weighed down with steel balls
  • Later versions are protected with a Sarab Active Protection System
