T-72S Shilden (T-72M1M1, Object 172M-E8)

T-72S "Shilden", also referred to as T-72M1M1 or Object 172M-E8 / Ob'yekt 172M-E8 is a Russian export T-72A upgraded to the T-72B standard with only 155 ERA bricks, simplified NBC system, no anti-radiation lining etc. It uses the same hull and turret armor as the T-72M1.

  • equipped with only 155 Kontakt-1 ERA bricks (as opposed to 227 on the T-72B)
  • simplified NBC system without anti-radiation lining
• Fire Control and Optics:
  • 125mm 2A46M smoothbore barrel
    • ability to fire the 9M119 Svir ATGM in standard configurations
• Ammo:
  • downgraded ammunition set compared to the T-72B
