The T-72B1 (Object 184-1 / Ob'yekt 184-1) is a simplified, lower-cost T-72B variant without the missile firing capability (9K120 missile system) and with the original Ural autoloader.

The B/B1 versions can be found both with and without K1 ERA.

Key features & differences:

  • lacks an ATGM capability (9K120)
  • same old thin sheet steel guard from the T-72 Ural
  • combat load is identical to a T-72A but includes one more APFSDS round
  • AZ-172 autoloader and memory system (autoloader of the T-72 Ural)
  • anti-radiation panels:
    • added to the back surface of the driver's seat
    • added to the commander's recoil guard
