International MaxxPro
International MaxxPro: Baseline Overview The International MaxxPro is a 4x4 MRAP vehicle developed by Navistar Defense (a subsidiary of Navistar International) and Plasan Sasa (Israel) for the U.S. military. It is designed to protect occupants from IEDs, mines, and small arms fire, using a V-shaped hull and modular, bolted armor. The MaxxPro is based on the International WorkStar 7000 truck chassis and has been widely used by U.S. and allied forces since 2007.
The International MaxxPro is a Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle designed by Navistar International’s subsidiary, Navistar Defense, in collaboration with Plasan Sasa, an Israeli company responsible for the vehicle’s armor. Developed for the U.S. Military’s MRAP program, led by the U.S. Marine Corps and supported by the U.S. Army’s Medium Mine Protected Vehicle program, the MaxxPro is built to withstand improvised explosive device (IED) attacks, small arms fire, and nuclear, biological, and chemical (NBC) environments. Its design features a V-shaped hull mounted on an International WorkStar 7000 chassis, which deflects blasts away from occupants to enhance survivability. The MaxxPro is categorized into MRAP Category I (MRAP-MRUV, light mine-resistant utility vehicles) and Category II (MRAP-JERRV, larger joint explosive ordnance disposal rapid response vehicles), with most units sold being Category I.
