Tu-95MS (Bear-H)
The Tu-95MS is a completely new cruise missile carrier platform based on the Tu-142 airframe (longer fuselage and reinforced undercarriage version of Tu-95). It was designed to carry Kh-55s, and later Kh-101/102 cruise missiles (internal rotary launcher and external pylons in MSM). It has modernized avionics, new navigation and defense systems, upgraded engines and propellers (in MSM), tail turret removed in MSM. It can carry up to 16 missiles (6 internal, 10 external on four underwing pylons).
It is equipped with upgraded NK-12MPM engines, new radar (Novella-NV1.021), and modern avionics (SOI-021 display system, Meteor-NM2 defense complex).
The Tu-95MS had the first flight in 1979, entered service in 1983, with production starting in 1981.
